Department of Systematic Theology
About us
The main areas of theology that we deal with in the Department of systematic theology are dogmatic theology and moral theology.
Dogmatic theology is the part of theology that deals with the theoretical truths of faith about God and his works (dogmata fidei). Dogmatic theology is a speculative science. While the historical and practical branches of theology inquire into the formal presuppositions of historical givens and the ethical, social, and pastoral implications of the Christian faith, dogmatics is concerned with the content of Revelation (God revealing Himself) insofar as it is open to systematic (speculative) understanding.
Moral theology has as its subject practical truths. Moral theology is the attempt to think scientifically and to interpret systematically the Revelation concerning the moral life of man, who has been called by God to live in communion with Him by means of grace.
